It's already been 1 year

Grandpa Freddie we miss you! I guess because I live in Texas and only got to see him once a year I still feel like he is still sitting in his chair by the window rubbing his hands. I love these two pictures because this was the last time my kids got to see their great grandpa. The one with Porter was on his (Porter's) birthday and grandpa was sharing a cookie with him. As always with the other picture I had to have a group pictures. This was just as grandpa was getting sick.. so he still looks like my grandpa still. When I went up to Montana in October just3 months later he did not look like my grandpa. If fact I have tried to forget that momory. I have so many great memories with my grandpa that I will remember those instead. Love you and miss you grandpa!

Claire's 6 month check up

We had our 6 month check up on Friday (OCT. 27) and she did so good. We are now 16.8lbs. I forgot the height. She got four shots and has not felt good since. She has ran a low grade fever. She is sitting up very good now. She has tried sweet potatoes, squash, peas, pears, and bannanas. (of course cereal too) The only thing she did not like were the peas. She gagged until her milk came up. Anyway back to the doctor visit, Hannah stayed home from school that day so she went with us to Dr. Leons. After Claire's visit I ask him if Hannah and Porter could get a flu shot today. I usually don't get the flu shots but, I felt like we should. Dr. Leon said sure and then left the room. Porter looked at me and said, "You did not tell me that I was getting a shot!!" Then Hannah piped in and said the same thing. I told them I didn't know if it was going to happen or not and that is why I didn't say anything. So they start discussing who's going first. I told them Claire went first and she got 4 shots and they could be brave and just get 1. We did get our shots and Hannah went first or second after Claire. Porter's comment after his shot was that it felt like a sword went through his arm.

Where do all the socks go???

Monday of this week I was doing a load of laundry and the washer stopped working. The water would not drain. So needless to say we had to call a repair man out. He came on Thursday morning and stayed all of 35 minutes and said there was a sock lodged in the drain of the washer. (One of Claires) The cost of the whole thing was $144.00. So I call it the $144.00 sock!!!!

Stop Growing!

The other day I was watching Hannah at volleyball practice and I had Claire in my lap and Porter beside me. Porter kept watching the coaches kids play on the side and he was wanting so bad to play with them. He ask me if I would walk him over there to play and I told him that I wasn't going to walk in front of the other parents. So he said, "Ok I will count to ten and then I will go by myself." "1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9, and 10." He then went over there and if I could capture that moment I would have. He was so nervous and I have no idea what he said to the other boy but, they started to play. I sat there watching his shoulders and his stance as he was talking to that boy. Then the nervous moment of his hands. He has always had no inhibitions and he has reached the age where he does. I wish he could stay little forever. At that small moment in time I had to let the string out a little further. That's when I say STOP GROWING!!!
Claire also had sweet potatoes for the first time which means she is growing! ( By the way she loved them)
Hannah of course is so beautiful and comes home with the things that other kids say to her that are so mean. ( I don't like you because you are friends with so and so- Who Cares) I know, Its a big deal in fourth grade.
I know they can't stay little forever and I am accepting it a little at a time.

Bread,bread and more bread

Today I taught a class at enrichment and I taught the ladies how to make homemade bread! Yes, I did. I taught how to make them from scratch. You know the kneading kind. I have tried other ways and I like this way the best. The funny thing was I knew I was inadequate and when I got up to teach all the other ladies started finishing my sentences and giving other ideas as I taught my way. So who knows if I taught anyone anything. I do know that I learned a few things so my bread was good and now it will be even better. Ha Ha

Claire is almost 6 months

Good Friends and Good Fun

We went to see Eric and Lisa's new house in Coppell. We spent almost the whole day there. The kids went swimming almost until dark. Porter and Grant had a great time and Eric sisters daughter was there and Hannah played with her. Hannah was most impressed with the open buffet and the unlimited Candy Jar. Porter's eyes were bloodshot and he still insisted on staying in the pool. Claire just enjoyed all the entertainment and people. They have a back gate that opens into the back yard of Grant's elementary school. How convenient! We had a great visit and will have to go back soon. We sure miss them and wish they were still here, but some things you just can't control. Oh, and yes dad was at school.
