Another season of T-ball has just begun

We had our first game Saturday. According to Porter "the reporter" we tied the first and won the second. Who knows?? I know they had fun. It was so stinkin hot, we were all burnt!! We had to be there 1 hour before a double header for pictures. It was fun and I think hes pretty cute.

Some things just shouldn't happen

I went to do a haircut today and I rang her door bell and walked in. She loves antiques and I love the way she decorates her house so I noticed all the cards all over her front entry table. She proceeded to tell me she had something to tell me and walked towards the kitchen. I could tell she was crying and she turned around and said our son Russell died on September 1st. I could not believe it. Parents are not supposed to out live their children. I didn't know their son, although I did meet him once. Very nice person. It was just so sad to see her cry at 70 years old and her husband to just look lost. I can't imagine the pain they are going through. It really didn't hit me until I was driving home and realized he was my older brothers age.
I stayed for a little while and visited. I think Claire brought them some smiles that were much needed around there. (even though she broke one of her tea cups- I was about to flip and she looked at me and told me after all that has happened a tea cup meant nothing and not to worry about it) Shirley has brought me much needed I love yous in my life and hugs when I see her that I hope I brought her some joy with Claire and I said some words of hope and peace at such a hard time in her life.

Out of tragedy comes strength

I can't believe that 9/11 happened so long ago. It seems so close to my heart. I did stop several times today and think of the people who died and the families they left behind. I can remember the day it happened so clearly. I say out of tragedy comes strength because I and I'm sure along with many others became a stronger person that day. Stronger feelings for our country, stronger as a whole ( united), stronger for those who lost loved ones and stronger inside. I don't know if it makes any sense but, I have became changed in a small way because of this incident - for the better of course.

Fossil Rim Trip

We went to Fossil Rim for a late birthday for Porter. We got to drive through the park and feed the animals. We also fed some by hand. It was so fun to see all the animals up so close. The kids would scream and laugh when the more agressive animals would stick their slobbery mouth in the window. It was very hot. We stopped half way and had a picnic. I can't believe I've lived here for 17 years and have never gone to this incredible place.

Lunch with Porter

This is Porter at lunch and the other picture is Porter looking at Libby. That day he liked her and today not so much he said.

Porter says.......

Porter told me today that his teacher has gone, " CRAZY in her mind. " I ask why and he said," because she gives stickers to the kids who have been bad."

The other thing he said today is "Mom, I AM the tallest one in kindergarten!!" Yeah, maybe I will have a son who pitches for the Yankees or plays for the Mavs. Or sings and act on broadway!!!!! Gotta love him!

FIrst of day/week of school

Thses are pictures from the first day of school. Porter had a great day and said, "this was the greatest day ever". He did have a few days where he was not so happy. He said the PE teachers yell to loud and the lunchroom is too loud. By the end of the week he was happy and the report we got from his teacher was, he was the example for the whole class, she said I could always count on Porter to listen.

Hannah had a great week. Her friends are in most all of her classes and lunch too. She had light homework but I'm sure its coming!!!!!

Claire came home the first day and would cry and look around the house and then she would play and then cry again. I was so busy being excited that I didn't even think that she might recognize the change and be sad. She was fine the next day. On Wed. the best part of my day was when Claire went down for a nap and I got to shower and shave my legs with NO ONE bothering me!!!!! That is HUGE!!!!

The pic with them together was when we treated the kids out to eat for a great first day.
